We use both the present perfect (have + done) and the present perfect continuous (have + been + doing) to talk about actions which started in the past and continue up to the moment of speaking: (Мы используем и Present Perfect (have + done), и Present Perfect Continuous (have + been + doing), чтобы говорить о действиях, которые начались в прошлом и продолжаются до момента речи:)
More than 100 Russian spacemen have worked in space since the space age began. — (Более 100 российских космонавтов работали в космосе с начала космической эры.)
It has been raining since 7 o’clock. — (Дождь идет с 7 часов.)
We use the present perfect continuous to talk about a continuing situation. (Мы используем Present Perfect Continuous, чтобы говорить о продолжающейся ситуации.)
The present perfect is used to say that something is completed: (Present Perfect используется, чтобы сказать, что что-то завершено:)
I have been watching a new space-travel film. I’m enjoying it. — (Я смотрю новый фильм о космическом путешествии. Мне нравится этот фильм.)
I have watched the new space-travel film. It’s really worth seeing. — (Я посмотрел новый фильм о космическом путешествии. Его стоит посмотреть.)
We often use since and for with the present perfect and the present perfect continuous to indicate that the action has lasted for a period. (Since is used to mark the beginning of the period; For is used to say how long something has been happening): (Мы часто используем since и for с Present Perfect и Present Perfect Continuous, чтобы указать, что действие длилось в течение какого-то периода. Since используется для обозначения начала периода; For используется, чтобы сказать, как долго что-то происходит:)
The scientist has been doing his research since April. — (Учёный работает над своим проектом с апреля.)
The scientist has been doing his research for half a year. — (Учёный работает над своим проектом в течение полугода.)
The scientist has done his research for half a year. — (Учёный сделал свой проект за полгода.)

Note: the following verbs are not normally used in continuous: be, believe, belong, consist, contain, depend, hate, know, like, love, mean, need, prefer, realize, remember, seem, suppose, understand, want.
