3. The US President and his helpers:

• What the President Does: The President is the head of the executive branch of the federal government. The President serves as Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, signs bills into law (or vetoes them), appoints federal judges and cabinet members, conducts foreign policy, and is the chief diplomat and symbol of the nation.
• Who Helps the President: The President is helped by the Vice President, the Cabinet (heads of executive departments like the Department of State, Treasury, Defense, etc.), and various executive agencies and advisors.
• Who Can Become President: To become President, a person must be a natural-born citizen of the United States, at least 35 years old, and have been a resident of the U.S. for at least 14 years.
• How Long One Can Be President: A President can serve a maximum of two four-year terms, totaling no more than ten years if they complete the term of a predecessor.
• When People Vote for Their President: People vote for their President indirectly through the Electoral College. Citizens cast their ballots for electors who are pledged to a particular candidate.
