The question of whether all students should be required to take part in competitive sports (соревновательном спорте) is a subject of intense debate (острых споров). While physical activity is vital, I believe (Я считаю), that mandatory competition is not beneficial for every student.
To begin with, critics often stress that a high focus on winning (победе) can create undue pressure (давление) and anxiety, especially for young people who are naturally shy (застенчивые) or less athletic. Furthermore, forcing students to compete may cause them to dislike (невзлюбить) sports entirely, which is counterproductive to promoting a healthy lifestyle.
However, the positive benefits (преимущества) cannot be ignored. Competitive team sports teach cooperation (сотрудничеству), discipline, and the ability to handle (справляться) both success and failure. Nevertheless, this viewpoint is easily countered by the fact that teamwork is fundamental to achieving success in almost all competitive disciplines.
To conclude, competitive sport is indeed a valuable part of education. On the whole, though, students should be strongly encouraged to participate, but not forced. The best educational experience is one that fosters healthy habits without creating unnecessary stress levels (уровней стресса).
