What are the Pyrenees described as, and what is their approximate height at the passes?

The Pyrenees are described as a natural barrier separating Spain from France. Although not excessively high mountains, they are difficult to pass. Their peaks are often sharp, and the passes lie at an altitude of no less than 1500-2000 meters.
