Ronaldinho

Ronaldinho is world famous as one of the most talented footballers of his generation. He was born in Porto Alegre, Brazil in 1980. He came from a very poor background and is now one of the highest-paid footballers in the world. In club football, he has played for Paris St. Germain, then Barcelona and then Milan, transferring there on a three-year contract worth about €6.5 million a year. At an international level, he first played for Brazil in 1997. In 1999, he scored six goals in the final of the Copa America, helping Brazil to victory and establishing himself as a world-class player. In the 2002 World Cup in Japan and Korea, he was a key member of Brazil's team which went on to win their record fifth world title. In 2005, he was named both European Footballer of the Year and FIFAPro World Player of the Year.

J K Rowling

J K Rowling is the author of the Harry Potter books and one of the richest women in the world. She was born near Bristol, UK in 1965. Joanne started writing stories at the age of six. In 1990, she started writing the first Harry Potter book, finishing it six years later, as a single mother living in Edinburgh. The book was rejected by several publishers before Bloomsbury agreed to publish it in 1996. The day she signed her contract, the publishing representative told her she would not make any money selling children's books. There are now seven Harry Potter books and together with the films, they have made her a fortune. Rowling is a best-selling author and the first to become a billionaire from writing books.

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie was born in California, USA in 1975. She is an actress and Goodwill Ambassador for the UN Refugee Agency. She is also one of the most famous people in the world, and her life is often reported on in the media. She has starred in countless films - her international breakthrough came in 2001, when she starred as Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider series. Other more recent films include Mr and Mrs Smith and The Changeling. She has received three Golden Globe Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and an Academy Award for her acting. Jolie has promoted humanitarian causes throughout the world, and is noted for her work with refugees through UNHCR. In 2003, she received the Citizen of the World Award from the United Nations and in 2005, she received the Global Humanitarian Award.

Sir James Dyson

Sir James Dyson is an industrial designer, born in England in 1947. He is best known as the inventor of the Dual Cyclone bagless vacuum cleaner. After inventing one or two products in the 1970s, his breakthrough came when he invented his new type of vacuum cleaner in 1983. It was based on a new design which did not reduce in power as the vacuum cleaner was filled. Dyson couldn't get any companies to make or sell his product, so in 1993 he set up his own company. In the UK and US, Dyson cleaners are now one of the most popular brands and in 2008, Dyson was reported to be worth €1.2 billion. In 1997, Dyson was awarded the Prince Philip Designers Prize and in 2006, he was made a Knight Bachelor and became 'Sir James Dyson'.
