The story is about a baby bird with only one wing that cannot fly. The other birds leave it, and it is sad. It asks squirrels to live with them, but they refuse. It then asks a fox, but the fox also refuses. Finally, it finds a treehouse where Mrs. Rabbit lets it live with them in exchange for cleaning the house. The bird lives happily with Mr. and Mrs. Rabbit every winter.
