Third conditional

The third conditional is used to talk about unreal situations in the past. It describes something that did not happen, and its imagined result.

Sentences in the third conditional:

1. If Alex hadn't been late for school, the teacher wouldn't have been angry with him.
2. If Alex had listened to the questions, he wouldn't have got all the answers wrong.
3. If he hadn't got all the answers wrong, the other kids wouldn't have laughed at him.
4. If the other kids hadn't laughed at him, he wouldn't have felt really miserable.
5. If he hadn't felt really miserable, he wouldn't have ate a huge lunch.
6. If he hadn't ate a huge lunch, he wouldn't have been sick later on.
