Past Simple Verbs
The past simple form of regular verbs is generally formed by adding '-ed' to the base form. However, there are some spelling rules to consider:
- If a verb ends in 'e', add '-d' (e.g., 'like' becomes 'liked').
- If a verb ends in a consonant followed by 'y', change 'y' to 'i' and add '-ed' (e.g., 'study' becomes 'studied').
- If a verb ends in a single vowel followed by a single consonant, double the consonant and add '-ed' (e.g., 'plan' becomes 'planned').
