Pattern of Natural Zones (North to South):

From north to south, the natural zones generally transition from Tundra and forest-tundra in the far north, followed by the extensive Taiga belt. South of the taiga, one encounters areas of Mixed and broad-leaved forests, which then give way to Forest-steppe and steppe in the southeastern parts of the continent. The southernmost regions, particularly around the Mediterranean Sea, are characterized by Sclerophyllous evergreen forests and shrubs.
